About Dumo
Dumo is an Author, Poet, Photographer and Filmmaker from Durban, South Africa.
Dumo Xaba began his writing journey in February 2020 with poetry, quickly compiling his debut collection, Poetic Type of Love, by May and releasing it in November. The project sparked a new passion: teaching himself graphic illustration to bring his words to life visually. He followed up with Dear Humanity in October 2021 and Poetic Type of Love, Volume 2 in February 2022. These works built toward his most personal collection yet—The Legacy—an intimate anthology described by some as a “biography of sorts.”
In 2023, Dumo Xaba Studios was founded and released its first original short film, Brothers By Blood, which was warmly received by audiences. In 2024, Dumo returned to university for his Honours degree, graduating with Cum Laude. Since 2023, he’s published three novels, served as a keynote speaker and facilitator, and currently mentors aspiring authors.
